The permanent collection

Three things that really happened

Every exhibit below is documented and sourced. The beat does not need exaggeration: that is precisely why it works as a brand.

  • Exhibit 01

    A pasadise of sweet teats

Willy’s Chocolate Experience, Glasgow, February 2024. An unlicensed Wonka event advertised with AI-generated images and copy containing invented words such as "cartchy tuns" and "exarserdray". Ticket holders arrived to a near-empty warehouse with printed backdrops. Police were called. The event was cancelled within hours.

The promo was better than the venue. That was the problem.
  • Exhibit 02

    Ten books nobody wrote

A syndicated summer reading list ran in the Chicago Sun-Times in May 2025. Ten of the fifteen titles did not exist. They were invented books attributed to real, living authors, complete with plot summaries. It reached print because it arrived as syndicated content from an outside supplier.

The authors were real. The books were not.
  • Exhibit 03

    The confident citation

Fabricated legal citations have now been identified in over a thousand court proceedings worldwide, tracked in a public database. They look perfect: correct reporter format, plausible docket numbers, real judges’ names. Everything about them is right except their existence.

Slop with a footnote is still slop.

What you could build here

Five businesses, one very short name

Slop is a permanent category now. It got a Word of the Year. What it does not have is a flagship brand.

  • NO. 01

The channel that owns the beat

Weekly video, short-form clips, and a name that is already the punchline. "Send it to prompttrash" is a call to action people will actually type. Try building the same audience under something that needs explaining first.

  • NO. 02

A submissions engine that runs itself

The best slop is found by other people. A submission form, a voting page, a weekly worst-of. The name does the recruiting: it tells a stranger exactly what to send and exactly what will happen to it.

  • NO. 03

A meme brand with merch that sells

Two syllables, no spelling, prints legibly at any size, reads instantly on a shirt or a sticker. Most media brands have to invent a mascot. This one arrives with a concept.

  • NO. 04

A QA or detection tool that is fun to use

Every product in this space is named like enterprise compliance software. A slop-checker aimed at editors, marketers and content teams could win the category on personality alone, and personality starts at the domain.

  • NO. 05

    The permanent archive

A catalogued, searchable, cited record of documented AI failures, with sources, dates and outcomes. Half museum, half evidence locker. It becomes the link people reach for in an argument, which is the most durable traffic there is.
